It may seem like the old Game Boy DMG-001 brick has been dead for years and survives only as a nostalgia machine, but that's not quite true. In 2019, indie studio IZMA released the horror game Deadeus for the venerable Game Boy.
The game follows a young boy who has a prophetic nightmare warning him that everyone will die in three days. He has to explore the village and try to save its residents — if they can be saved at all. The game has 11 endings!
Originally, the developers sold only the game's ROM image, so you needed a flashcart to play it. But preorders for a physical copy are now open! Preorders run only until February 15, 2021, with shipping scheduled for March.
If you like playing on physical cartridges and want an interesting title for your collection, don't wait too long.
