EZ-Flash lineup update

I recently spoke with an EZ-Flash developer and got a few interesting updates worth sharing.

1. The OMEGA line is being discontinued

Because of chip shortages, the EZ-Flash team has decided to end production of the OMEGA-series cartridges. Their place in the lineup is now taken by the EZ-Flash Air. The currently active models are therefore the EZ-Flash Air and EZ-Flash Definitive Edition.

2. Why the Air has no save states

I specifically asked why the EZ-Flash Air does not include instant saves, or save states. The developers explained that because of the device's architecture — in particular, the lack of RAM — implementing the feature would introduce noticeable delays.

In simple terms, saving or loading a state would take several seconds even in the best case, making save states unpleasant to use. The team therefore decided to leave the feature out of the EZ-Flash Air entirely.

3. New products

The team is not currently working on any completely new devices. The main focus is improving and optimizing the EZ-Flash Air. Once that work is complete, however, they may return to the EZ-Flash Junior and EZ-Flash Parallel.

So EZ-Flash Air is becoming the main option for anyone looking for an affordable and reliable GBA flash cartridge, while the OMEGA heads into retirement.
