Friends, we have good news — the DMG-Dreams team is back in action! This time they've prepared something special: a physical release of Super Mario Land DX — a remastered version of that classic Super Mario Land, now in color and with attention to every detail.
Super Mario Land DX isn't just a re-release, but an enhanced version of the game that once opened the Game Boy library. Now — in color, with improved graphics, and, what's especially nice, as a real collector's kit. Cartridge, box, manual, stickers, badges, keychain — everything is in place, everything made with love!
We all played Mario on Dendy at some point — it was in almost every home, at multiplayer parties and in our hearts. But Game Boy and its versions of Mario were something from a dream — portable, almost unattainable legends. And now this dream has come a little closer — in a bright, colorful and very tangible form.
The Kit
The cartridge comes in a neat and very beautiful box — with a bright cover and design that follows the spirit of classic Nintendo releases.
And over the box — a transparent protective case, like in Japanese editions.
And inside — just a scattering of pleasant little things. There's a detailed illustrated manual, stickers, badges, and even a keychain.
What's Inside the Kit
Let's take a detailed look at what's inside.
The main thing, of course, is the cartridge itself. It's made to a high standard: appearance on par with original releases, and the "internals" — even better.
Soldering, board, component quality — everything feels sturdy, solid and with a margin of reliability. No amateur work here — this is close to industrial level.
But what surprised me most was the protective case for the cartridge. On the lid — a beautiful sticker with the DMG-Dreams logo, and if you look inside — a little hidden Mario.
Moving on. Inside you'll find:
- two badges with illustrations from the game;
- two magnet chips;
- a Game Boy Color-shaped magnet;
- a keychain — also themed after Super Mario Land DX.
And also — a manual and a set of stickers, designed with incredible attention. All documentation was made by hand: Koshchei completely redrew the manual from scratch, adapting it for the new version. This isn't just a scan or translation — it's a full reimagining, done with respect for the original and love for details. And the text, as with Apotris, was written by me — carefully, considering the game's specifics and in the spirit of good old 90s manuals.
Compare with the original manual — the difference is colossal.
Without Koshchei and his golden hands, this kit definitely wouldn't be so cool. By the way, subscribe to his Telegram channel PSXFan.
Epilogue
This is the kit we got — bright, heartfelt and amazingly high quality. DMG-Dreams have once again proven that even fan projects can look like real collector's editions when made with love and attention to every detail.
Super Mario Land DX isn't just a game, it's a little celebration for those who remember what cartridges looked like on shelves in the 90s, and who still enjoy the sound of a Game Boy turning on.
Thanks to the whole team, and especially — to Koshchei, without whom this story probably wouldn't have happened. If you're holding this kit in your hands — know: it's made by hand, with enthusiasm and warmth. And that's perhaps more valuable than any official release.
